Leinster on top form

Leinster have come thought this weekend in scintillating form beating Scarlets 7 – 32.

Leinster were dominant right from the off .Good initial work from Isa Nacewa led to a ruck and Eoin Reddan fed Berne who released Horgan and the Boyne man sprinted clear past three desperate challenges to touch down for the opening score of the evening.

D’Arcy scored Leinster’s second try and Berne their third. Leinster Holding a deserving 22 – 0 lead at the break

The Scarlets began the second half strongly and it was the Jones/Davies midfield partnership which reaped their first points when Davies crashed over from close range.

Hines was then yellow carded for an offside offence and Scarlets Sean Lamont soon followed him to the bin for a shoulder charge.

Leinster pushed hard for the four-try bonus and were finally rewarded when Sean O’Brien touched down when he capitalised on a Berne break down the blindside and a Heaslip offload. Berne completed an excellent evening with a wonderful touchline conversion to extend the scoreline to 32-7.

Scarlets are the team to beat.

www.rugbypicture.co.uk

The Scarlets are the only team outside France to have won two from two, and could be the dark horse of the competition. They will go into this weekends game as underdogs against the champions but they have beaten us already this year. A win and it lifts some pressure. If we lose with a BP and prevent Scarlets getting one

At the moment Scarles are on 8 points, we are on 5 and London Irish are on 5. London Irish will be looking for 9 from the back to backs with Brive putting them on 14. If we get 6 for our 2 games with Scarlets that puts us on 11 and Scarlets get 4 they will be on 12.

That means we will need to beat Brive and London Irish away getting 9 in the process. We then need London Irish to travel to Scarlets and win or Scarletts to travel to Brive and lose. This will leave us top with 20 London Irish next with 18 19 or if the get BPs from their final 2 matches they will be on 20. ( Head is starting to hurt now) next will be scarlets with 17 or 18.  It could go anyway .

If we win all our games, sorted. we will be on 21 without any BPs. I think i got that right.Either way it going to be a very tight finish and i’d rather not be hoping for other results to go our way.
